High-intertidal Zone

A coastal area covered by the highest of the high tides, mostly exposed to air
Real World Example
Imagine you're trying to find the perfect balance between keeping your houseplants watered without drowning them or letting them dry out. This is similar to how organisms in the high-intertidal zone must adapt to being submerged in water during high tides and then exposed to air for the rest of the time. Just as houseplants need to survive in both wet and dry conditions, life in the high-intertidal zone must thrive in both aquatic and terrestrial environments, experiencing the "wet" high tides and long periods of "dry" exposure.
