Longshore Current

A water current parallel to the shoreline

Real World Example

Imagine trying to walk along a crowded sidewalk while being gently nudged sideways by the crowd. This is similar to a longshore current, where the movement of water runs parallel to the shoreline, constantly pushing you sideways along the beach. Just like the crowd's sideways movement influences your path without directly blocking you, the longshore current shifts sand and swimmers along the coast, subtly altering their position parallel to the shore.
