Conjugate Base

Substance formed when an acid loses a proton
Real World Example
Imagine you're at a crowded party and you're trying to find some personal space when someone leaves the group you're in. This situation is similar to how a conjugate base is formed when an acid loses a proton. Just as the group becomes less crowded and you have more room when someone leaves, an acid becomes a conjugate base with a slightly different structure and properties once it loses a proton. In both cases, the removal of one element (a person at a party or a proton in an acid) changes the dynamics and characteristics of what remains.
