Angle Of Insolation

The angle of incidence at which sunlight strikes the Earth

Real World Example

Imagine trying to toast bread in a toaster that only heats one side properly because the slices aren't positioned correctly. Just like the positioning of bread affects how evenly it gets toasted, the angle at which sunlight hits the Earth determines how much solar energy a particular area receives. In both cases, it's all about the angle: the bread might be unevenly toasted if it isn't facing the heat source directly, just as areas on Earth receive more or less sunlight depending on whether they are tilted towards or away from the Sun.
