Atomic Radius
Loading image...
Half the distance between the nuclei of two adjacent atoms of an element
Real World Example
Imagine trying to figure out the personal space between two people standing in a crowded elevator. Just like you can estimate their personal space by observing how close they stand without feeling uncomfortable, the atomic radius is measured by looking at how close two atoms of the same element are to each other. In this analogy, the people represent the atoms, and their personal space is like the atomic radius, which is half the distance between the centers of these atoms when they are side by side.
