Intertidal Zone

The shoreline between high and low tide

Real World Example

Imagine trying to plan a picnic in a park where the seating areas are only available at certain times of the day. This is similar to the intertidal zone, where the shoreline is only exposed during low tide and submerged at high tide. Just as you have to time your picnic perfectly to enjoy the park, marine organisms must adapt to the intertidal zone's shifting availability, thriving in an area that is sometimes land and sometimes sea.
