The breaking down of glucose in the first step of cellular respiration
Real World Example
Imagine trying to break down a large loaf of bread into bite-sized pieces so it can be shared at a picnic. This process is similar to how glycolysis breaks down glucose into smaller molecules to be used for energy during cellular respiration. Just as you slice the bread into smaller, manageable pieces to distribute among friends, glycolysis chops glucose into more usable forms, like pyruvate, which can then be further processed to provide energy for the cell.
