One of the large sections of crust and upper mantle that fit together and cover the Earth
Real World Example
Imagine trying to piece together a jigsaw puzzle where each piece is unique and fits snugly to form a complete picture. Just like those puzzle pieces, the Earth's crust and upper mantle are divided into large sections known as tectonic plates that fit together to cover the planet's surface completely. Each tectonic plate is like a puzzle piece, with its own distinct shape, and together they create the Earth's outer shell, moving and interacting at the edges much like puzzle pieces do when they are manipulated to fit perfectly.
