The amount of salt dissolved in water

Real World Example

Imagine trying to dissolve sugar into your morning coffee, but there's only so much sugar that will dissolve before it refuses to mix further. This situation is similar to how salt dissolves in water, where there is a limit to how much salt can be dissolved, known as the water's salinity. Just like how your coffee can only hold a certain amount of sugar before it becomes saturated, water can only dissolve a fixed amount of salt, defining its salinity level; both involve a balance of dissolving particles into a liquid until no more can be absorbed.
