The flow of blood between the heart and the lungs

Real World Example

Imagine you're in your kitchen with a dirty dish that needs to be cleaned before you can use it again for your next meal. Just like you need to send the dish to the sink to wash off the grime and make it ready for serving food, your heart sends deoxygenated blood to the lungs to remove carbon dioxide and replenish it with oxygen. In this analogy, the dirty dish represents deoxygenated blood, the sink is like the lungs where the cleaning (or oxygenation) occurs, and just as the dish returns to the table ready for use, the oxygenated blood returns to the heart ready to nourish the body.
