Platelet

A cell fragment that helps form blood clots

Real World Example

Imagine you're trying to fix a leaky garden hose with a tiny hole in it. Just as you might use a piece of tape to quickly seal the hole and stop water from spilling everywhere, platelets act in a similar way in your body. The connection here is that platelets are like that piece of tape; they quickly respond to a "leak" in your blood vessels by clumping together at the site of an injury, forming a temporary seal to prevent bleeding, just as the tape prevents water from escaping.
