Just like the straw becomes a bottleneck making it hard to enjoy your milkshake, asthma causes the airways in your lungs to narrow, making it difficult to breathe. In both cases, whether it's the straw or your airways, the problem lies in the passage becoming too tight for easy flow, whether it's for the milkshake or the air you need.
