Crater

A large pit on Earth or any object in space, created by an impact from a smaller object

Real World Example

Imagine dropping a marble onto a soft cake and watching it create a dent. This is similar to how craters are formed when a smaller object, like a meteorite, strikes the surface of a larger object, such as Earth or another celestial body, creating a large pit. Just as the force and speed of the marble dictate the size and depth of the dent in the cake, the energy and velocity of the impacting object determine the dimensions of the crater it creates on impact.
