The organism on, or in, which a parasite lives
Real World Example
Imagine trying to host a party where an uninvited guest shows up and starts eating all the food and using all the amenities without contributing anything. This situation is similar to how a host organism feels when a parasite lives on or inside it, taking resources while giving nothing in return. Just like the party host who provides the space and refreshments for everyone, the organism provides nutrients and a habitat for the parasite, but ends up being depleted by the uninvited guest.
