A large molecule formed from a chain of small monomers

Real World Example

Imagine trying to create a long string of popcorn for holiday decorations, where each piece of popcorn is carefully popped and threaded one by one. This is similar to how polymers are formed, where each individual popcorn piece represents a monomer, and when they are linked together, they create a long chain, much like a polymer. Just as you would patiently string each piece of popcorn to build a continuous decoration, in chemistry, small monomers are joined to form a large, complex molecule known as a polymer.
