Real World Example

Imagine you are trying to pass a message down a long line of people, where each person whispers it to the next. This is similar to how energy is transferred through a food chain in an ecosystem, where each organism passes on energy by consuming the one before it. Just like the message can get altered or weakened as it moves along the line, energy decreases as it moves up the food chain—from plants (the message origin) to herbivores (the first whisper), and then to predators (subsequent whispers), with each step losing a bit of the original message's clarity or energy.
