Unlike a plant, cannot make its own food, instead it eats other living things

Real World Example

Imagine you wake up in the morning and realize you don't have any groceries at home to make breakfast. This situation is similar to how certain consumers in nature, unlike plants, cannot produce their own food and must rely on other living things for nourishment. Just as you must go to the store or a cafe to get your breakfast, these consumers, known as heterotrophs, must seek out and consume other organisms to obtain the energy they need to survive, since they lack the ability to photosynthesize like plants do.
