Evaporation

The top of liquid changing into a gas
Real World Example
Imagine trying to find your favorite socks in a messy drawer where everything is piled on top of each other. This scenario is similar to evaporation because, just like the socks on the top are the easiest to grab and use, the molecules at the surface of a liquid are the easiest to escape into the air as gas. In both cases, the top layer (whether it's socks or liquid molecules) is the most accessible and likely to change position, reflecting how evaporation primarily occurs at the surface level of a liquid.
