Drought

A long period of unusually low precipitation

Real World Example

Imagine you're trying to save money for a big purchase, but your income suddenly drops, causing you to spend more than you earn each month. This situation is similar to a drought, where the "income" is the precipitation we receive, and it's suddenly much lower than usual, while our "expenses" are the water needed by the environment. Just as your savings dwindle when you're not earning enough to cover your expenses, a drought occurs when the environment doesn't receive enough precipitation to sustain its needs, leading to a "depleted savings" of water in the ecosystem.
