The transfer of heat energy from a warmer area to a cooler area in a liquid or gas

Real World Example

Imagine you're at a crowded party where people are packed into one room, making it uncomfortably warm, while the adjacent room is nearly empty and much cooler. Just as partygoers naturally start moving from the crowded, hot room to the cooler, emptier one for relief, heat energy in a liquid or gas moves from warmer areas to cooler ones. In this analogy, the people represent particles in a fluid, the crowded room is the warm area, and the cooler room is the cooler area; just as people spread out to balance comfort, heat energy disperses to balance temperature.
