Conduction

The transfer of heat energy between two objects through direct contact

Real World Example

Imagine trying to get a stubborn toothpaste out of a nearly empty tube by applying pressure with your fingers. Just as your fingers must make direct contact with the tube to push and transfer the toothpaste towards the opening, conduction involves heat energy being transferred from one object to another through direct contact. In both cases, the key is direct touch: your fingers need to press against the tube to move the toothpaste, just like molecules in one object must touch molecules in another to transfer heat.
