Real World Example

Imagine trying to find your way through a large shopping mall without a map. Just like navigating the mall, where each store is positioned along the corridors, a linkage map helps us find the locations of genes on a chromosome. The corridors in the mall are analogous to the chromosome, while each store represents a gene, and just as a mall map shows where each store is located, a linkage map shows where each gene is positioned along the chromosome.
