A cell that has only one set of chromosomes

Real World Example

Imagine you're trying to bake a cake, but you only have one of each ingredient in your pantry. Just like how you have to make do with only one of each ingredient to complete your cake, a haploid cell has only one set of chromosomes instead of the usual pair found in most cells. In this analogy, each ingredient represents a chromosome, and just as you have a single set of ingredients to work with, a haploid cell operates with a single set of chromosomes to carry out its functions.
