A fossil formed when dissolved minerals fill a mold and harden

Real World Example

Imagine you're baking a cake and you accidentally drop it, leaving a cake-shaped dent on the floor. Later, if some spilled icing or batter fills that dent and hardens, it will create a perfect replica of the original cake's shape. This is similar to how a fossil cast forms: when an organism leaves an impression (or mold) in sediment, and then dissolved minerals fill that impression and solidify, creating a cast. Just like the icing takes on the cake's shape, the minerals capture the details of the original organism, preserving its form in stone.
