Molten rock that reaches the Earth's surface

Real World Example

Imagine you're stuck in a traffic jam, waiting impatiently as the cars ahead slowly make their way through a congested intersection. This is similar to how molten rock, or magma, must force its way through cracks and openings in the Earth's crust to finally emerge as lava on the surface. Just as cars eventually spill out onto the open road after being released from the bottleneck, magma pushes through the barriers of the Earth's crust and flows freely as lava, transforming the landscape much like traffic shapes the flow of a city.
