Evaporation

The top of liquid changing into a gas

Real World Example

Imagine you have a jar full of marbles, and every day, as you go about your routine, you remove one marble from the top. This is similar to how evaporation works, where the molecules at the surface of a liquid gain enough energy to escape into the air as a gas. Just as the top marbles are the easiest to remove because they are at the surface, the molecules at the surface of a liquid are the ones that most readily turn into gas, representing evaporation.
