Plucking

The process by which a glacier picks up rocks as it flows over land
Real World Example
Imagine walking through a muddy path and how your shoes pick up clumps of dirt and pebbles as you go. Just like your shoes, a glacier moves over the land and picks up rocks and sediments, which become embedded in the ice. The connection here is that both your shoes and the glacier act as carriers, collecting debris as they move along their respective paths; in both cases, the surface they move over adheres to them, demonstrating how movement can result in the accumulation of external materials.
