This system developed as a response to the need for protection and order following the fall of the Roman Empire, with decentralized power making local governance essential. It ensured stability in a time of frequent invasions and weak central governments, structuring society into hierarchical levels based on land ownership and duties. Today, the concept of feudalism connects to modern job hierarchies, where employees provide services in exchange for salaries, much like vassals served lords for land. For example, a manager (like a lord) may delegate tasks to team members (vassals), who rely on the manager for guidance and direction, highlighting the importance of structured roles in achieving common goals.
