Real World Example

Imagine trying to separate the pasta from the water after cooking without using a strainer. This is similar to how baleen whales feed in the ocean, using their baleen plates to filter out food from water. Just as a strainer lets water pass through while retaining the pasta, baleen plates allow water to flow out while trapping krill and small fish for the whale to eat.
