Lateral Line System

The sensory receptors that fish use to detect movement and vibrations in the water

Real World Example

Imagine trying to find your phone in the dark when it's vibrating on a table. In the same way, fish use their lateral line system to 'feel' movements and vibrations in the water around them. Just as you can sense where your phone is by the vibrations it sends through the table, fish detect changes in water pressure and movement through the sensory receptors along their sides, helping them navigate and respond to their environment.
