The standard used for comparison of test results in an experiment

Real World Example

Imagine you're trying to decide which type of coffee gives you the most energy in the morning. Just like you would use a regular morning without coffee as a baseline to compare how different coffee blends affect your energy levels, a control in an experiment serves as the standard for comparison to see the effects of the variable being tested. In both cases, the control or baseline (your morning without coffee) provides a reference point that allows you to measure and understand the impact of the changes you are testing (different coffee blends).
