Negative Feedback

A change caused by a signal that reduces the strength of that signal, like sweating slows as the body cools down

Real World Example

Imagine you're trying to fill a glass of water from the tap, but the glass starts to overflow. Just like you would quickly turn down the faucet to prevent water from spilling everywhere, negative feedback in the body works to reduce a process that's gone too far. In both cases, an initial change (overflowing water or rising body temperature) prompts an action (turning down the tap or reducing sweat) that counteracts and stabilizes the situation, preventing further excess.
