A streak of light created when a meteoroid is heated by Earth’s atmosphere

Real World Example

Imagine you're driving a car on a long road trip, and you suddenly have to brake hard because of an unexpected obstacle. This sudden braking generates heat in the car's brakes, similar to how a meteoroid generates heat when it enters Earth's atmosphere. Just as the friction between the brake pads and the wheels produces heat and sometimes even a burning smell, the friction between the meteoroid and the atmospheric particles causes it to heat up and glow, creating the bright streak of light we see as a meteor.
