Real World Example

This is similar to stabilizing selection in nature, where the "perfect" or average traits are favored and become more common, much like how you set your thermostat to keep the temperature steady. Just as you adjust your heating or cooling to avoid extremes and maintain comfort, stabilizing selection favors the average traits in a population, reducing extremes and promoting stability.
