A system in which blood moves through open spaces as well as vessels
Real World Example
Imagine trying to water your garden with a hose that has both open sections and closed pipes. Just like water freely flows from the open sections to flood the garden, in an open circulatory system, blood moves through both open spaces and vessels to reach different parts of the body. The garden represents an organism's body, the water hose is analogous to the circulatory system, and the water itself is like the blood—sometimes directly flowing through defined channels and at other times spreading freely over open areas.
