Imagine you're at a crowded concert, trying to make your way from the back to the front to get a better view. This scenario is similar to a wave, which is a repeating disturbance that transfers energy through matter or space. Just as your effort to move through the crowd creates a ripple effect where each person briefly shifts to accommodate you, a wave transmits energy through a medium, causing particles to oscillate and pass the energy along without moving the particles permanently from their original positions.
