An enslaved African-American preacher who led a two-day rebellion
Real World Example
Nat Turner was an enslaved African-American preacher who led a two-day rebellion in Virginia in 1831. The rebellion resulted in the deaths of around 60 white people and the eventual execution of Turner and many of his followers. Turner's actions were significant because they intensified the national debate over slavery and led to stricter laws against enslaved people. His bravery and fight for freedom continue to inspire people today who stand against oppression and injustice. For example, modern civil rights activists draw inspiration from Turner's courage to fight systemic racism and promote equality for all.
