Real World Example
Democracy, as outlined in The Constitution of the US, meant that the government was based on the will of the people, addressing problems of monarchy and lack of representation. Before democracy, many people lived under rulers who made decisions without considering the citizens' opinions or needs. The Constitution established a system where citizens could vote for leaders and have a say in laws, ensuring fairness and equality. Today, democracy affects our lives by allowing us to choose leaders in elections, such as voting for a president or local officials. For example, if a community wants a new park, they can vote for representatives who support building it, showing how democracy empowers people to improve their surroundings.
